Buggy electronic voting machines have dropped votes in recent elections in Ohio. The national media is completely ignoring the story. http://dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2008/08/21/voting_machines.html?sid=101
It's sad that you have to turn to rocketmonkey.org to get the real story on this, but I guess that's how things go these days.
People who know me know that I have railed against electronic voting machines for years. I've studied computer security, and I can tell you that electronic voting is a bad idea.
Quite frankly, I don't trust the "magic box" to count my vote correctly. And neither should you.
I would hope that after this catastrophe, that media would pick up the issue, and we could get rid of electronic voting. Sadly, this doesn't seem to be happening.
I would also like to point out that awhile back I sent a letter on this issue to one of my Senators, Robert P Casey, Jr. He actually had the gall to say that this was a state issue and not a federal issue. I'm a federalist, but since when is Senator Casey a federalist? Apparently whenever there's an important issue. For those not informed about this issue, electronic voting machines are a federal issue because the federal government made it a federal issue when they passed the Help America Vote Act, which mandates the use of electronic voting machines.
